How easy it is to focus our lives upon stuff. Or upon our own tastes and opinions. But at the very end of his ministry Jesus focused on what truly matters when he said,
“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this will all men know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another” (John 13:34-35).
This New Commandment of Jesus focuses us upon “One Another” – the true treasure. This means that the Church exists to help people to understand, heal, and grow. Her ministry in his Name is to be focused on the souls and bodies of people who are made in his image.
That means you matter to Jesus and to us. People of all shapes and sizes and backgrounds are most important to us. We exist to help isolated, lonely, fractured people find life and wholeness and vitality through Jesus Christ.
